Meet the BEEZ Committee Members for the Year 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n

President – Vihanga Amarakoon<\/strong><\/p>\n

The President of BEEZ, and the iron-lady who leads and directs all initiatives by the club, is Vihanga Amarakoon, a 4th year undergraduate reading for her BSc. (Hons) in Environmental Science.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Before taking up the role as the President of BEEZ, she served as the Secretary of the club during the term 2020\/2021. In addition, she is also a blogger at FOS media, member of the Gavel Club of University of Colombo and a member of the Field Ornithology Group of Sri Lanka. She is also the Asia-Pacific Chairperson of the International Women Sustainability Forum 2021. The skills that have enabled her to become a leading role in so many extracurriculars and a role model for all members of the club lie in public speaking, event organizing, creative writing and formal communication.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Additionally, her interests and hobbies include blogging, poetry, travelling, public awareness and women sustainability improvement.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Vice president – Tharindu Ranasinhe
<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tharindu Ranasinhe who is currently a 3rd year undergraduate, reading for his BSc. (Hons) degree in Zoology is the Vice President of BEEZ. He who engages actively in organizing all activities by the club and is a huge nature enthusiast himself is amazingly talented at many aspects of animal and plant related matters and is the ideal example of a traveller, hiker, photographer and bird watcher. In addition, he also involves himself in fish keeping, gardening, science communication and is the ultimate nature lover.<\/p>\n

His strengths in content writing, graphic designing, video editing and field work has so far been a noteworthy asset to the club in all its activities.<\/p>\n

Secretary – Shenali Ranasinghe
<\/strong><\/p>\n

The right arm of the club and the head of all things administrative, is Shenali Ranasinghe, the Secretary of BEEZ, who is in her 3rd year, reading for her BSc. (Hons) in Immunology and Integrative Molecular Biology.<\/p>\n

She who has a born talent in multitasking, is also the acting Secretary of Euphony, the Official choir of the University of Colombo. During the term 2020\/2021, she has held important roles in many different clubs as the Professional Development Director of the Rotaract Club of Faculty of Science, University of Colombo, Assistant Secretary of Euphony, and Project Manager of Colombo Beacon, a youth organization in the University of Colombo. Skills that have assisted her in holding such a variety of job roles lie in writing, public speaking, and singing, to which she correlates her personal interests in travelling, photography, international relations and world politics as well.<\/p>\n

Assistant Secretary<\/strong> –\u00a0Ayeshma Adikari<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ayeshma\u00a0 is the girl who has taken charge in all club activities irrespective of her job role. She who is a 3rd year undergraduate reading for her BSc. (Hons) degree in Zoology, has held multiple job roles in multiple clubs and societies within the university namely; Community Service director of the Rotaract Club of Faculty of Science, University of Colombo, 2020\/2021 and Project chair of \u201cTemplanza\u201d by the Gavel Club of University of Colombo. She is also an active member of the content writing and announcing departments of Colombo Beacon, a youth organization in the University of Colombo and an active team member of the University Netball team.<\/p>\n

In addition, she is skilled in dancing, writing, announcing, Chess and Table Tennis as well, and is interested in spending her free time travelling, hiking and listening to music.<\/p>\n

Editor –\u00a0Sadani Liyanage<\/strong><\/p>\n

The editor of BEEZ and the lead behind all creative content of the club is Sadani Liyanage, a 4th year undergraduate reading for her BSc. (Hons) in Immunology and Integrative Molecular Biology. Before taking up her role as the editor of BEEZ, she was the 4th year coordinator for the club during the term 2020\/2021. She also acted as the Junior Editor at FOS media in 2019\/2020, Chief Executive Editor (English) at FOS media in 2020\/2021 and is still actively involved as a blogger at FOS media.<\/p>\n

In addition to being actively involved in varying aspects of writing from creative to scientific, she also draws, acts in stage dramas and is talented in communication and coordination of activities. Her interests also lie in a wide area ranging from travelling to nature conservation to lab work and research to aesthetic activities such as dancing and music.<\/p>\n

Junior Editor –\u00a0Janani Chathrya<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Junior Editor of BEEZ and the girl known never to say no to any responsibility, is Janani Chathrya, a 3rd year undergraduate reading for her BSc. (Hons) in Zoology. She is also the acting Vice Captain of the University Women\u2019s Volleyball Team and an active member of FOS media. Prior to these responsibilities, she was the Environmental Services Director of the Rotaract Club of Faculty of Science, University of Colombo. She is a multi-talented personality that is immensely gifted in graphic designing, video editing, photography and sports and is popularly known as a nature enthusiast.<\/p>\n

Her love in travelling, hiking and bird watching and her love for music has her dedicating her free time to them whenever she can.<\/p>\n

Junior Treasurer – Madusha Harshani
<\/strong><\/p>\n

The girl that is the richest out of everyone in the club is Madusha Harshani, the Junior Treasurer of BEEZ who is in her 3rd year, reading for her BSc. (Hons.) in Business and Environment Sciences.<\/p>\n

She who also has prior experience being the assistant treasurer in the Leo club of the Faculty of Science, University of Colombo during the term 2020\/2021 was the ideal candidate for handling all financial matters of the club. It is also safe to say that our junior treasurer is multi-talented aesthetically owing to her talent in dancing and singing and also loves spending time with nature while hiking, travelling and exploring nature.<\/p>\n

1st year coordinator –\u00a0Vishwa Peramuna<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our 1st year coordinator is a nature lover that hopes to complete his degree in Zoology and Molecular Biology. He is gifted in creative writing and loves to spend his time reading, travelling, writing poetry and listening to music.<\/p>\n

2nd Year Coordinator –\u00a0Ashen Ranaweera<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ashen is a well known musician in the faculty who is also a major nature enthusiast that hopes to continue his studies in the field of Zoology. In addition to his job role at BEEZ, he is also the Peace and Justice Director at the Leo Club of Faculty of Science, University of Colombo, the Audio Director at Euphony and Technical Director at FOS media. He is also a popular and gifted musician, who is a keyboardist\/vocalist in the bands Watalappan and Echo.<\/p>\n

In addition, he involves himself in creative writing, social media handling, travelling and photography as well.<\/p>\n

3rd Year Coordinator –\u00a0Menuka Jayalath<\/strong><\/p>\n

Menuka\u00a0 is another multitasker, who is currently in her 3rd year reading for her BSc. (Hons) in Environmental Science. Prior to her responsibility in BEEZ, she has held the role of Youth empowerment and Professional Development Director of the Leo Club of Faculty of Science, University of Colombo, 2020\/2021 and coordinator of the Computer Lounge and Library of the Faculty of Science. She is also a member of multiple clubs namely, FOS media, Euphony, Music Society, Astronomical Society and SEDS in the Faculty of Science, University of Colombo.<\/p>\n

She is talented in many aesthetic aspects varying from dancing to singing to writing and loves engaging herself in travelling, photography, astronomy, sewing and cooking as well.<\/p>\n

4th Year Coordinator –\u00a0Vimukthi Gunasekara<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our 4th year coordinator is popularly well known among all students of the faculty, as the ultimate Zoology expert. He is Vimukthi Gunasekara, a final year undergraduate reading for his BSc. (Hons) in Zoology, who has been a role model for many nature enthusiasts in the University. He is also a committee member of the Field Ornithology Group of Sri Lanka and thoroughly enjoys travelling, meeting new people, photography and engaging in research.<\/p>\n

Webinar – Sadani Perera<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sadini Perera who is in her 3rd year reading for her BSc. (Hons) in Business and Environment Science, is the Head of the Event Organizing subcommittee of BEEZ.<\/p>\n

She is also an active member of the Rotaract Club of Faculty of Science, University of Colombo and AIESEC, University of Colombo. She has a god given talent in writing and loves to engage herself in travelling, poetry and event planning.<\/p>\n

Yasaswi has a born talent at dancing and content writing and loves spending her time reading, cooking and travelling.<\/p>\n

Social Media – Sachindri Gunasekara<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sachindri is the Head of the Social Media subcommittee and is in her 3rd year reading for her BSc. (Hons) in Immunology and Integrative Molecular Biology. In parallel to her job role in BEEZ,<\/p>\n

She is also the sub-editor (content) at SEDS, University of Colombo. Her skills in writing, editing and announcing have aided her in holding these positions and her interests also extend to astronomy, music, reading and travelling as well.<\/p>\n
