As the country getting bankrupt each and everyday, the Entrepreneurship and Innovations Club of the University of Colombo organized the\u00a0 the 1st<\/sup> Workshop of a two-day workshop series focusing on educating the Sri Lankan on e-commerce on the 10th<\/sup> of July 2022,. The first workshop focused on \u201cE-commerce\u201d and the second day of the workshop was focused on \u201cDigital currency and online earning.\u201d This was mainly focused to educate how to earn using the internet as a platform in order to bring some dollars to the country as responsible undergraduates and citizens of Sri Lanka.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The Workshop series was organized to educate the undergraduates of the University of Colombo on different aspects of E-commerce, its applicability, and its importance in the modern world. During the workshops, a special focus was on discussing the advantages and disadvantages of selling online, varieties of products to be sold online, the potential of e-commerce, distinguishing between drop shipping and direct shipping, trends in e-commerce, and new opportunities available through e-commerce and cryptocurrencies.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Many enthusiastic undergraduates took part in this event via the zoom platform and the event was broadcasted live on Facebook. The event was addressed by two distinguished guest speakers. The first workshop was conducted by Mr. Dishan Shirantha<\/strong> (BIT, PgDISM, MISM\/LLB\/BTec Eng. Computer(Reading)) Assistant Director (ICT) of the Ministry of Finance<\/em> while the second workshop which was held on 17th July 2022 was conducted by \u00a0Mr. Thilina Panduka<\/strong> (MSc.(Info.Sys.Mgt.), BSc.Special(Hon.) in ICT, IESL(I, III)- (Electronics & Telecommunication)) the Assistant Director (ICT), CIO, of the Vocational Education Sector Ministry of Education<\/em>. The distinguished guest speakers provided a very informative and comprehensive explanation of the topic of e-commerce discussing its definition, characteristics, functions, processes, models used, and key factors of influence and made it more interesting using real-world examples of success stories of well-known e-commerce companies in the world and in Sri Lanka. <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The undergraduate students were encouraged to explore the field of e-commerce through the discussion which was built upon the new trends and advantages and disadvantages of the respective field. Furthermore, the students were educated on the legal background of the e-commerce sector within the country. The guest speakers also provided a detailed explanation of digital currency, and its functions and educated the audience on the distinction between direct shipping and drop shipping and the possible options of products to be sold online. The session ended on a good note with a discussion on the potential applicability of e-commerce and the options available to the participants, which they can explore in the current economic situation.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
