“It is crucial for companies to have a digital presence because a strong brand not only attracts customers, but also attracts talent”- LinkedIn product director Gyanda Sachdeva.
Have you ever thought of being a professional? If not dreamt of being a professional? Then this is the best platform for you to showcase your talents and skills in the job market and make your dream come true. LinkedIn is a platform specially built for the professionals to hire and recruit employees to their organizations and to help talented individuals to get into the corporate world effectively. But how can you as an employee stand out of more than 690 million users in the LinkedIn platform? What should I know to make my LinkedIn profile look great and catch the attention of recruiters? Most students may have these burning questions. This is why the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Club of University of Colombo conducted a virtual webinar session on how to get into the modern job market with a perfect LinkedIn profile on 04th September 2021 from 7.00PM onwards via Zoom.
Being an attendee on the session which was conducted for about an hour I gained a lot of knowledge on making an excellent LinkedIn profile and extending my scope of getting hired in a leading corporate firm. The speaker Ms. Sachithri Suraweera elaborated how to build a strong corporate identity which can be maintained on the web 24×7 without any extra commitment. The key points covered throughout the session were,
- What is LinkedIn?
- Benefits of LinkedIn
- Benefits of LinkedIn to a business.
- Other benefits
- How to improve your LinkedIn profile.
- Job updates.
- LinkedIn certification.
- Networking which made the session really interactive and engaging.
When considering businesses, LinkedIn can boost your profile, raise awareness of your brand, and help you recruit the right people. Having your business on LinkedIn is powerful and a fantastic marketing tool. LinkedIn marketing is the process of using LinkedIn to connect with, generate leads, improve brand awareness, promote business relationships and partnerships, share content and direct traffic to your website. LinkedIn is now an integral part of many successful corporate marketing strategies, and to be effective it needs to expand its professional network. This guide of LinkedIn tips that you can immediately implement will help you learn how to use LinkedIn to increase brand awareness, share marketing content and grow your business. Also helps in maintaining professional relationships without any cost and use your updated LinkedIn account as a resume.
The best part of LinkedIn is you no longer need to send your Resume to the recruiters and hunt jobs. Recruiters just can reach you through LinkedIn and get connected with you to work for their company. Therefore, you should always feel free to add recruiters, human resources specialists, human resources managers and companies you want to work with to your network. This way you can get updated vacancies from them, and you will appear at the top of the other candidates as they search for your skills. Another option you can use to show that you are looking for a job is to indicate where you are looking for a job. Your LinkedIn profile should be 100% relevant to the positions you want to work in later in your career. Recruiters need to know their hard skills and whether they are relevant to the role they are applying for. Don’t fill your profile with buzzwords like “critical thinker,” “good communication skills” or “team player” that won’t work much for you.
It’s a must that every LinkedIn user should know how to maintain a proper LinkedIn profile. From the profile picture onwards, it should be professional. Selfies and content not related to the corporate world should never be shared that can ruin your corporate identity. Also, a LinkedIn profile should be updated and well maintained in order to get the maximum benefit out of it. LinkedIn hashtags help in more engagements but never use them as in other Social Media networks like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The best and simplest advice for using LinkedIn is do not confuse LinkedIn with other social media platforms. Be professional and get into the professional world.
